B.C. Wood Companies is offering internships where the students will be eligible to receive credit hours for their participation in employment. The current intern position has the following criteria:

Education Requirements: Successful completion of Principles of Accounting I and II and Intermediate Accounting I and II.  Preferred but not necessary - successful completion or current enrollment in Income Taxation (Acct 3094).

Job Description: The student will work for the CFO and assist in bookkeeping, tax planning/preparation and teaching basic accounting skills to new staff. The bookkeeping duties will consist of journal entry preparation and posting, general ledger analyses, and depreciation/amortization calculations. Learning the basics of Yardi property management software will be necessary for performing the bookkeeping duties. Students will be able to assist in tax planning in the fall and will have the opportunity to receive hands-on experience in tax preparation in the spring via Prosystem fx software - the primary software chosen by CPA’s in the tax preparation industry. The student will also have the opportunity to experience all of the steps necessary for closing deals in real estate - from the initial underwriting process for obtain financing through the actual property acquisition.

Pay Scale: All items listed under education requirements met - $9.00/hour If lacking Income Taxation - $8.50/hour

Hour Requirements: 10-15 hours per week. Summer work is also available with increased work hours, if interested.
