Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Brian gained his expertise in the construction and real estate industries the old-fashioned way: through hands-on experience. He began working in construction as a teenager and continued in college, where he earned his role as a project manager for a large residential construction firm. After college, Brian began building single-family residential and multifamily rental units for resale and investment. At just 22, he purchased a 31,000-square-foot retail shopping center, which he owned and managed while continuing to build and expand his construction business. Through the process, Brian chose to focus on retail real estate and organized BC Wood Companies (later renamed BC Wood Properties) in 1994 to engage in the acquisition, ownership, management and redevelopment of shopping centers. Since that time, Brian has overseen the growth of the enterprise and continues to have a hands-on approach to growth. Brian obtained his BA in Finance from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Transylvania University and the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation.
President and Chief Operating Officer
William 'King' Offutt officially joined BC Wood Properties in 2006 after having served as the company's outside counsel, where he was heavily involved in acquisitions, financing and leasing since 2002. His work continues to include all aspects of leasing, financing, acquisition and operation of retail properties, as well as oversight of legal matters. Prior to joining the company, King practiced corporate and real estate law with Stites and Harbison, PLLC, a top-50-ranked law firm based in Kentucky with offices throughout the Southeast. King obtained a BA from Denison University, obtained his Juris Doctorate from Tulane University Law School, and has been a member of the Kentucky Bar since 2001. King is the Board Chairman of the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center, a non-profit school dedicated to teaching children with hearing, speech and language impairments to listen and talk.
Chief Investment Officer
Mark joined BC Wood Properties as Chief Investment Officer in January 2012 after successfully serving the commercial banking market in Lexington, Kentucky for over 24 years. Over the last 12 years, Mark founded and developed a Lexington-based banking presence focused on commercial real estate for PBI Bank. During that time, Mark successfully closed in excess of $600 million in CRE loans and established over 125 core banking relationships with regional entrepreneurs and developers. From 1994 to 1999, Mark served as the CFO for Jaguar Oil & Gas, Inc., a Lexington, Kentucky-based oil and gas company that actively drilled in the Gulf region of the continental United States. Mark is a 1982 graduate of Murray State University with a degree in business and finance. Mark also earned a graduate banking degree in 1991 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Mark lives in Lexington, KY with his wife, Laura Day, and has three adult children.
Julie joined BC Wood Properties as Controller in October 2010. Prior to joining the company, Julie was the Controller at Carbon Landmark Construction in Richardson, TX that specialized in the construction and development of mixed-use properties. Prior to Carbon, Julie was the Assistant Controller and then Regional Controller for Prentiss Properties, Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment trust headquartered in Dallas, TX. Julie earned her B.A. in Accounting from North Central College in Naperville, IL and is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of accounting experience in the real estate industry.
Jason joined BC Wood Properties in 2007. As Leasing Manager, he is responsible for all properties in Kentucky. Prior to working with the company, Jason spent nine years with the University of Kentucky Athletics Department, where he served as the Director of Fundraising. Jason earned his BA from the University of Colorado and attended graduate school at the University of Kentucky.
Jimmy White joined BC Wood Properties in 2013 after 20 years in the retail industry, the last 17 with Hibbett Sports. During his time with Hibbett, Jimmy worked in retail operations for 10 years then spent his remaining time in the Real Estate Department doing site selection where he and his team oversaw Hibbett’s growth from 75 locations to over 890. During his tenure, Jimmy negotiated and finalized over 70 leases for Hibbett in 10 states throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Jimmy attended the University of North Alabama where he majored in Business Management. He is based in Birmingham, AL where he lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their three kids Erik (10), Emma (7), and Brooks (5). He is an active member of the board for Oak Mountain Youth Baseball and Softball and coaches his three kids in baseball, football, and basketball during his spare time.
